We recently completed an exhilarating project in collaboration with Axis Communications, designed to enhance their Axis Q6010-E setup. This fun and challenging build involved creating a custom unit that integrates two-way audio and strobe lights, elevating the capabilities of the existing security system with the addition of Action-CS’s Exterior Active Deterrence Unit.
Integration at Its Best
The highlight of this project is its simplicity and efficiency—everything runs over a single Ethernet cable. This setup not only streamlines the installation process but also enhances the system’s reliability by minimizing potential points of failure. The inclusion of the Action-CS 100 watt horn adds a robust audio deterrent feature, capable of delivering clear and loud communications or warnings.
Custom Components for Superior Performance
To ensure seamless integration and optimal performance, we utilized a combination of custom parts from both Action-CS and Axis Communications. Here’s a breakdown of the components used in this project:
Action-CS Parts:
- Corner Bracket: Provides sturdy mounting and optimal positioning for the ADU.
- Wall Bracket: Offers additional mounting flexibility for different architectural needs.
- ACS Switch Card: Integrates power and data management into one central hub.
- ACS Exterior Ultra Power ADU: The core of our active deterrence, featuring high-powered strobe lights and two-way audio capabilities.
- ACS NPT Plate: Ensures secure and weatherproof connections.
- ACS-Horn (Bullhorn 📢): Delivers powerful audio alerts and communications.
Axis Communications Parts:
- Axis Q6010-E: Known for its high-resolution, full 360° panoramic views.
- Axis Q60-E PTZ: Allows for detailed zoom and enhanced surveillance coverage.
- Axis C8210: Enables network audio capabilities for any camera in the system.
